Salix helvetica
Salix helvetica, also called Swiss willow or dwarf willow, is a small, deciduous dwarf shrub with a compact, round shape and dark brown branches. The leaves are velvety silver to grey-green, lanceolate and felty white and hairy on the underside. From February to March, this dwarf willow flowers with silver-gray catkins. It likes a position in full sun or partial shade and prefers a soil with a neutral acidity. The Salix helvetica is very hardy, needs little pruning, is tolerant of sea wind and air pollution, attracts bees and butterflies and is also suitable for use in the rock garden.
