Spiny Bear Claw has glossy deeply lobed, dark green feathery leaves with soft spines. From June to the end of August it blooms with upright clusters of white flowers with purple bracts. Acanthus mollis prefers partial shade and likes a well-drained fertile soil, once established the plant is drought tolerant. This bear claw is very hardy, tolerant to sea wind and air pollution.
