Acer palmatum 'Osakazuki', small Japanese maple with green leaves at first that turn deep red in autumn. It is a small, slow growing shrub. In autumn the foliage turns scarlet red. Osmunda regalis, also called royal fern, is one of the largest native ferns. The habit is upright, with a loose clump. This fern has double-feathered, fresh green leaves, which start a bit pink in the spring. The fertile, fertile leaves have richly branched, brown-red clusters full of spores. This majestic fern likes a sheltered position (out of the wind) in partial shade or shade and a well-drained, humus-rich, moist to soggy soil.
