Acer palm. 'Skeeter's Broom'

Acer palmatum 'Skeeter's Broom' is a small, slow-growing Japanese maple with five to seven-lobed, serrate and deeply dissected purplish-red leaves. It is a graceful shrub, slow growing, with a narrow shape and especially popular for its beautiful leaves during spring, summer and fall. Looks a lot like 'bloodgood' but is much more compact. The five to seven-lobed deeply dissected leaves are reddish-purple and remain that way until leaf fall. The acer palmatum 'skeeter's broom' likes sun with light shade, preferably in a moist, slightly acidic soil, and somewhat sheltered from strong winds. Not a coastal plant, but air pollution tolerant.
