Pleioblastus pygmaeus 'Pygmaeus'

Pleioblastus pygmaeus "Pygmaeus" is one of the smallest evergreen to semi-evergreen dwarf bamboo. It has a low-growing, bushy, ground-covering habit. The leaves are dark green, lanceolate, slightly hairy on the underside and stand on medium green culms. This bamboo likes a sheltered position in full sun or partial shade and a moist, but well-drained, nutrient-rich soil. Pleioblastus pygmaeus "Pygmaeus" is reasonably to hardy, but prefers a sheltered place. It is only moderately drought tolerant, dislikes direct sea breezes, tolerates air pollution and is virtually unaffected by diseases or pests.
