Acer palm. 'Skeeter's Broom'
Acer palmatum 'Skeeter's Broom' is a small, slow-growing Japanese maple with five to seven-lobed, serrate and deeply dissected purplish-red leaves. It is a graceful shrub, slow growing, with a narrow shape and especially popular for its beautiful leaves during spring, summer and fall. Looks a lot like 'bloodgood' but is much more compact. The five to seven-lobed deeply dissected leaves are reddish-purple and remain that way until leaf fall. The acer palmatum 'skeeter's broom' likes sun with light shade, preferably in a moist, slightly acidic soil, and somewhat sheltered from strong winds. Not a coastal plant, but air pollution tolerant.

Pleioblastus variegatus
Pleioblastus variegatus is a small, evergreen dwarf bamboo. It has a low-growing, compact, bushy, ground-covering habit. The leaves are pointed upwards, variegated, medium green with creamy white vertical stripes, lanceolate and stand on light green culms. This bamboo likes a sheltered position in full sun and a moist, but well-permeable, nutrient-rich soil. Pleioblastus variegatus is reasonably to hardy, but prefers a sheltered place. It is only moderately drought tolerant, dislikes direct sea breezes, tolerates air pollution and is virtually unaffected by diseases or pests.

Acer shirasawanum 'Aureum', sometimes also called acer japonicum 'aureum' . Is a particularly slow-growing yellow maple with beautiful yellow-green leaves that turn crimson red later in the fall. It is a small, slow-growing shrub with narrow lanceolate leaves and a very broad shape, densely branched crown and drooping branches. The large and broad leaves are glossy, dark green and stand on thin green culms. Albizia julibrissin is a broad tree with spreading, almost horizontally growing branches. The bark is dark gray and the young branches are olive green, but later turn dark gray. The large leaf can grow up to 40 cm in length. It is doubly pinnate and made up of 4 to 11 yokes each with 15 to 28 pairs of small, sickle-shaped leaflets with a finely rimmed margin. The whole looks like a fern leaf and is very decorative. In the evening the leaves fold up.
