Acorus gramineus
Acorus gramineus, called calamus in Dutch, is a small to medium-sized, water-purifying, bank or swamp plant with a pol-forming and rhizome spreading habit. The leaves are narrow, stiff, grassy, aromatic and dark green in color. This calamus blooms from June to August with inconspicuous, small green flowers that are densely grouped in the flower spikes. In our region, the plant only rarely forms red berries. Acorus gramineus prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and moist, soggy to wet soil. The plant is reasonably hardy, attracts butterflies and bees, is pest free, tolerant to sea wind and good disease resistance.

Athyrium niponicum "Metallicum", syn "pictum", called Japanese rainbow fern in Dutch, is a graceful deciduous fern with a creeping habit. The metallic-colored leaves are bipinnate, the leaflets tapering and have a gray-green to reddish-purple hue. The Japanese rainbow fern likes a position in partial shade or shade and a well-drained, humus-rich, acid to slightly alkaline, normal to moist soil. Campsis x tagliabuana 'Indian Summer' is a floriferous self-adherent climber with trumpet-like large flowers, yellow-orange on the outside and dark orange-red on the inside.

Celastrus orbiculatus
Celastrus orbiculatus, called tree strangler in Dutch, is a tall, right-winding climbing vine with light green, ovate, serrated and often intertwined leaves. This lovely tree strangler flowers in April and May with yellow-green to cream-coloured, five-lobed flowers.
