Alisma lanceolatum

Alisma lanceolatum, called slender water plantain in Dutch, is a deciduous aquatic plant with an upright, wide-spread habit. The leaves are narrow, lanceolate and blue-green colored. Slender water plantain blooms from June to August with purple-pink flowers in a panicle-shaped inflorescence. Alisma lanceolatum likes a position in full sun and prefers to stand 10 to 30 cm deep with its feet in the water, although it can also temporarily cope with drier conditions. The plant is hardy, tolerates sea wind and is disease resistant.
