Ligustrum jap. 'Rotundifolium'
Ligustrum japonicum 'Rotundifolium' is an evergreen small shrub with a dense habit. The leaves are thick and round, glossy and dark green. In May and June, this Japanese privet blooms with small white to ivory-coloured, unpleasantly scented panicle-shaped flowers, followed in autumn by small black berries that are a delight for the birds. Ligustrum japonicum likes a position in full sun or partial shade and is satisfied with any soil that is not too wet and therefore well-drained. Pruning once or twice a year is recommended for hedges. The plant is attractive to bees and butterflies, tolerates sea wind well and is also tolerant of air pollution.
