Ligustrum lucidum

Ligustrum lucidum, also called Chinese privet, is a large evergreen shrub with a dense habit. The leaves are large, ovate to lanceolate and dark green. In July and August, this Japanese privet blooms with white to ivory-coloured, fragrant panicle-shaped flowers, followed in autumn by small black berries that the birds love. Ligustrum lucidum likes a position in full sun or partial shade and is satisfied with any soil that is not too wet and therefore well-drained. the plant is attractive to bees and butterflies, tolerates sea wind well and is also tolerant of air pollution.
