Hippophae rhamnoides

Hippophae rhamnoides is a wide-growing deciduous shrub with silver-green long and narrow leaves on thorny twigs. From March to May, inconspicuous fragrant yellow-green flowers appear on the bare wood, later followed by numerous orange berries that are particularly rich in vitamins E and C and suitable for human consumption. The sea buckthorn has deep and broad roots, likes nutrient-poor sandy soil, and can withstand both dry and wet soil conditions. It is hardy, salt and sea wind resistant, attracts bees and butterflies and can also hold its own in an urban environment.
