Pulsatilla vulgaris

Pulsatilla vulgaris' in Dutch also called wild man's herb or fur anemone, is a deciduous, pol-forming perennial with very finely divided, silver-haired, feathery light green leaves. The plant blooms from March to May with large bell-shaped purple flowers, later followed by attractive flower fluff such as with clematis. Pulsatilla vulgaris prefers a location in full sun and a calcareous and humus-rich soil. Wild man's herb is very hardy, reasonably drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind, has little trouble with diseases and vermin, although in bad circumstances occasional wild man's herb can be attacked by leaf spot or snails.
