Mimulus ringens

Mimulus rings, also called blue mask flower, is a tall and widely spreading marsh plant. The plant spreads via rhizomes and has lance-shaped, sharply toothed, pointed, dark green leaves on quadrangular, narrow-winged stems. It blooms from June to August, with striking lilac-blue to violet-blue, tubular flowers with a yellow throat. Mimulusringens prefers a position in full sun or partial shade, in places where it gets some shade in the afternoon, flowering takes longer. Blue mask flower likes any moist to wet soil and can also grow in shallow water. The plant is reasonably to hardy, attracts butterflies and bees, is fairly disease resistant and tolerant to air pollution.
