Celastrus orbiculatus
Celastrus orbiculatus, called tree strangler in Dutch, is a tall, right-winding climbing vine with light green, ovate, serrated and often intertwined leaves. This lovely tree strangler flowers in April and May with yellow-green to cream-coloured, five-lobed flowers. In the case of female plants, if a male pollinator is nearby, an invasion of attractive vermilion red fruits follows in late summer. Celastrus orbiculatus likes a position in partial shade or full sun and a well-drained, slightly moist soil, it is hardy, fairly drought tolerant, attracts bees and butterflies and also tolerates sea wind and air pollution well. The tree strangler also has few problems with diseases or vermin.

Acca Sellowiana, syn. Feijoa sellowiana, called pineapple guava in Dutch, is a medium-sized evergreen shrub from South America, with a bushy habit and decorative, green elliptical leaves with a silver-grey underside. This Brazilian guava flowers from June to October with fragrant, pink-white flowers with bright red stamens, followed after fertilization by edible green-red fruits with a sweet and sour pineapple flavour. Acca sellowiana likes a sheltered position in full sun and a neutral to calcareous well-drained soil that is not too dry, especially during the fruit season. In our climate, this plant is only moderately hardy, when the mercury dips below 10°c, some winter protection is still recommended.

Anemopsis californica, sometimes called swamp wood tuynia or yerba mansa in Dutch, is a United States deciduous pond or bank plant with a low-growing, carpet-forming habit. The leaves are broadly elliptical to spatulate, deep green with a waxy shade of gray. Anemopsis californica blooms from May to September with white flowers with a remarkable gray-white anther, later decorative red spots and stripes appear on the petals. Swamp houttuynia likes a position in full sun to partial shade and a neutral to calcareous soil, it prefers shallow water of 5 to 10 cm, but can also withstand periods of drought thanks to its very long rhizome. Acer griseum
Acer griseum, also popularly called paper maple, is a small medium - usually - multi-stemmed maple species, with a beautiful airy crown and funnel-shaped growth. The bloom does not have much ornamental value: green-yellow flowers on downy hairy stems raise the head. The leaves are elliptically roughly serrated and green-red in spring, bronze-coloured with grayish down hairs on the underside, olive-green leaves in summer.
