Valeriana officinalis
Valeriana officinalis, called "real valerian" in English, is native to our low countries. It grows along ditches and on marshy soil. This hardy perennial has an upright habit and pinnate leaves. Valerian flowers from June to August with light pink, sweet-smelling flowers in upright clusters. Valeriana officinalis likes a position in full sun and well-drained, fertile soil. This plant is hardy, disease resistant and pest free. It tolerates sea breeze, air pollution and attracts bees and butterflies to the garden. Valerian has many applications, the well-known valerian tincture is made from the rhizomes, which is used as a seasoning in beers, liqueurs, sweets, ice cream ... Valerian also has a calming effect.

Nymphoides peltata
Nymphoides peltata, also called villarsia Nymphoides peltata or water gentian. The water gentian has spatula-shaped underwater leaves and round, heart-shaped, dark green, floating leaves, with a purple-red underside. Nymphoides peltata blooms from July to September, with small, yellow, daytime flowers, which give off an almond scent and are about ten cm above the water. The flowers are barely about 3 cm in diameter and have beautifully fringed petals and a slightly darker yellow center stripe. Berberis julianae
Berberis julianae or the Chinese barberry is one of the largest varieties used, this evergreen species is a large upright shrub with a rounded crown and slightly drooping branches. Aponogeton distachyos, in Dutch called Cape water lily, water spike or water candle, is an aquatic plant native to South Africa. The leaves are elongated oval, leathery, medium green and float on the water, between the flowering periods they disappear under the water. Nymphaea 'Aurora'
Nymphaea "Aurora" is a beautiful, orange-colored water lily for small to medium-sized ponds, which has the special property that the flowers change color during the growing season. The rather small, round leaves appear purple and then turn dark green with brown spots during the season.
