Pachysandra terminalis

Pachysandra terminalis, also called shadow herb in Dutch, is a small, low-growing and carpet-forming shrub. This evergreen, popular ground cover plant has glossy, up to 7 cm large, obovate and coarsely toothed leaves, which are dark green in partial shade or shade and turn yellowish, light green in more sunny places. Pachysandra blooms from March to May with scented, small white flowers in terminal umbels. Pachysandra terminalis likes a position in partial shade or deep shade and does well in any soil that is not too limy. This plant is low maintenance, drought resistant, sea wind tolerant and attractive to bees, bumblebees and butterflies.
