Nymphoides peltata

Nymphoides peltata, also called villarsia Nymphoides peltata or water gentian. The water gentian has spatula-shaped underwater leaves and round, heart-shaped, dark green, floating leaves, with a purple-red underside. Nymphoides peltata blooms from July to September, with small, yellow, daytime flowers, which give off an almond scent and are about ten cm above the water. The flowers are barely about 3 cm in diameter and have beautifully fringed petals and a slightly darker yellow center stripe. Water gentian likes a sunny position and a water depth of 0.30 to 0.80 meters. It does well in any type of soil, but still prefers loam or clay soil. The plants are hardy and do not suffer from diseases, they also attract numerous bumblebees and bees.
