Helleborus or. 'Red Hybrids'

Helleborus orientalis 'red hybrids' has recently also been called helleborus x hybridus 'red hybrids', they are semi-evergreen perennials with a compact pol-forming habit and dark green, leathery, deeply incised and serrated leaves. these hellebores bloom from January to April with maroon-red cup-shaped flowers with golden-yellow stamens. Helleborus x hybridus prefers a position in partial shade, but also does well in full shade under tall trees. It prefers well-drained, neutral or alkaline soil, but also tolerates slightly acidic soil. This plant is fairly hardy, but does appreciate some winter protection in severe winters.
