Molinia arund. 'Karl Foerster'
Molinia arundinacea "Karl Foerster" (syn. Molinia caerulea subsp. Arundinacea), also called pipe straw, is a medium-sized, deciduous grass with an arching, clump-forming habit and medium-green, linear, grass-like leaves, which turn a beautiful yellow in autumn. This molinia blooms from July to October, with airy, purple-red flower panicles that turn yellow-brown later in the summer and fall. Molinia arundinacea "Karl Foerster" likes a position in full sun or partial shade and is hardy, tolerant to sea wind and air pollution and generally pest and disease free. This ornamental grass can be used as a solitary in borders, along the pond side in informal gardens and can also be used as a cut flower or dried flower.
