Geranium sanguineum
Geranium sanguineum is a deciduous native cranesbill with a low-growing, ground cover habit. The leaves of this cultivar are small, dark green and five to seven-lobed. This geranium blooms profusely from May to September with 3 4cm purple-red flowers, which have dark veins. the plant prefers a position in full sun or light shade, but also in partial shade and is satisfied with any well-drained, not too fertile soil type. To prevent too much sowing and to stimulate re-flowering, it is advisable to cut back dead flowers and unsightly leaves during flowering. Cranesbill is hardy, tolerant to sea wind and resistant to air pollution.
