Geranium sylv. 'Mayflower'

Geranium sylvaticum 'mayflower' is a deciduous native cranesbill with a compact, clump-forming habit. The leaves of this cultivar are quite large, slightly hairy, pale green and seven to nine lobes. This geranium blooms profusely from May to early July with 2.5 to 3 cm violet blue flowers. the plant prefers a position in full sun or light shade, but also in partial shade and is satisfied with any well-drained, not too fertile soil type. To prevent too much sowing and to stimulate re-flowering, it is advisable to cut back dead flowers and unsightly leaves during flowering. Cranesbill is hardy, tolerant to sea wind and resistant to air pollution.
