Cotoneaster franchetii
Cotoneaster franchetii, dwarf medlar, large and fast growing shrub native to south west china, usually semi-evergreen in our regions, upright and broad, with gracefully arching branches. The leaves are glossy, first bright green, later dark green, the underside is felt-like, yellowish downy. Likes a position in full sun or partial shade and does well in any soil type. Blooms profusely from June to July with pinkish white flowers, later followed by ovoid orange-red fruits. The plant is fairly drought tolerant, sea wind resistant and can also handle some air pollution.
