Panicum virg. 'Rotstrahlbusch'
Panicum virgatum 'rotstrahlbusch', in Dutch called finger grass, is a medium-sized deciduous grass species with an upright, pol-forming habit. The attractive linear leaves are green with a red hue and later turn a deep reddish brown to almost wine red color in autumn. Panicum virgatum 'Rotstrahlbusch' flowers from August to October with airy wine-red flower panicles that, once the seed begins to ripen, quickly turn creamy-white to gray-white. Finger grass prefers a sunny position in slightly moist, well-drained, not too fertile soil. This plant is very hardy, reasonably drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution well, has little or no problems with pests or diseases.
