Panicum virg. 'Squaw'

Panicum virgatum 'squaw', in Dutch called finger grass, is a medium-sized deciduous grass species with an upright, clump-forming habit. The attractive linear leaves are green with a red hue and turn blood red later in autumn. Panicum virgatum 'Squaw' flowers from July to September with airy pinkish-red flower panicles that turn straw-colored in late autumn. Finger grass prefers a sunny position in slightly moist, well-drained, not too fertile soil. This plant is very hardy, reasonably drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution well, has little or no problems with pests or diseases. Panicum virgatum 'Squaw' is useful in borders, prairie garden, flower meadow and interesting for group planting.
