Panicum virgatum 'Shenandoah' is a fascinating ornamental grass with narrow linear overhanging leaves with a height of 125cm.
They emerge quite late in the spring with fresh green leaves but turn red very early until they turn wine red in autumn.
Flowering occurs in late summer with fragrant pink / light brown flower tufts that barely protrude above the leaves.
They require a moderately dry to moist soil and a sunny, warm place.
Flowering can sometimes be omitted on nutrient-rich soil.
