Helictotrichon sempervirens
Helictotrichon sempervirens, syn. Avena sempervirens, called blue ray oats or soft oats in Dutch, is a graceful evergreen grass with ray-shaped pollen and attractive blue-gray narrow linear leaves. This ornamental oat flowers in July and August with loose yellow-brown plumes on high culms and likes a sunny position in a soil that is not too fertile, well-drained. It is a good accent plant for the border, cottage garden or city garden. The plant is hardy, fairly drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution.

Rosa nitida from North America only grows to a height of fifty centimeters. These botanical roses get small pink flowers from June and then orange hips. They work well as a border or low hedge.

Hystrix patula
Autumn is an upright-growing grass species whose reed-like grass is overhanging and turns reddish brown.
The fine spikes resemble a bottle brush, first white later brown.
They require dry to normal, sandy loamy soil.
But no wet soil in winter.
They are short lived but sometimes they spread.

Pontederia cordata
Pontederia cordata, in Dutch called pike herb or swamp hyacinth, is a particularly rewarding aquatic plant for the small to large pond. With its special appearance, sloping habit and pointed heart-shaped, dark green leaves combined with the beautiful blue elongated flower spikes, it offers the pond an exotic look. Pontederia cordata prefers a position in full sun or partial shade, a somewhat loamy soil and a water depth of between 20 and 60 cm. If you plant the plant at a minimum height of 30 cm, you do not need to take additional protective measures during the winter. If you want to keep the plant in the shallow swamp zone of the pond, you will have to put an extra leaf cover on top of the plant during the winter as protection against frost.

Imperata cyl. 'Red Baron'
Imperata cylindrica "Red Baron", syn. "Rubra", called Japanese blood grass in Dutch, is a decorative deciduous grass with a stiff, upright growth and a loose, clump-forming habit. The narrow linear leaves are fresh green and then turn a fiery red in summer, flowering is rare in Europe. In other regions Japanese blood grass blooms from July to August with silver-gray flower spikes. Imperata cylindrica "Red Baron" likes a sunny and sheltered position in a well-drained soil. This grass is drought tolerant, reasonably hardy, tolerates sea wind and air pollution and is a special accent plant for use in the border.

Koeleria glauca, called torch grass in Dutch, is a small evergreen to semi-evergreen grass with a rough, clump-forming habit and narrow, linear blue-green culms. Torch grass flowers from June to August with brown-green, later silver-gray flower panicles and prefers a position in full sun or partial shade. The plant prefers a dry, sandy, well-drained, nutrient-poor soil and is sufficiently hardy, tolerant of sea wind and air pollution.

Potentilla palustris
Potentilla palustris, in Dutch cinquefoil or also called swamp strawberry, is a deciduous swamp plant with a bushy, creeping habit. The leaves are three to seventy, blue-green to gray-green in color, deeply serrated and with felt-like hair. Cinquefoil blooms from June to the end of August with burgundy flowers whose sepals are exceptionally larger than the petals. Potentilla palustris prefers a position in full sun or partial shade, along the water's edge or in shallow water in an acidic to neutral soil. The plant is very hardy, attracts butterflies and bees and has few problems with diseases or pests.

Leymus arenarius
Leymus arenarius, syn. Elymus arenarius, in Dutch called sand oats, is a large evergreen grass species with an upright shape. The grass blades are gray-blue and pointed at the top. Sand oats flowers from May to July with wheat-like flower spikes with a blue hue that quickly turn creamy white. Leymus arenarius prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and a well-drained, not too fertile, preferably sandy soil. this ornamental grass is hardy, very drought tolerant, tolerates direct sea wind and tolerates air pollution.
