Panicum virg. 'Prairie Sky'
Panicum virgatum 'Prairie Sky', in Dutch called finger grass, is a medium-sized deciduous grass species with an upright, pol-forming habit. The attractive linear leaves are blue-green to blue-gray and turn yellow to yellow-brown later in the fall. Panicum virgatum 'Prairie Sky' blooms from July to October with airy dark red flower panicles that, once the seed begins to ripen, quickly turn beige-yellow. Finger grass prefers a sunny position in slightly moist, well-drained, not too fertile soil. This plant is very hardy, reasonably drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution well, has little or no problems with pests or diseases.
