Gaura lindheimeri

Gaura lindheimeri is a short-lived perennial with a bushy, upright habit and a clump-forming habit. This beautiful candle has attractive narrow lanceolate, dark green leaves and blooms from July to the end of October with white butterfly-like flowers whose petals are attractively pinkish white. Gaura lindheimeri does well in any well-drained soil that is not too wet in winter. The plant is reasonably hardy, tolerant to sea breeze and air pollution and in good conditions it has little trouble with pests or diseases, in too wet winter conditions there is a risk of root rot. Lends itself well to a sunny border, wild garden or in combination with grasses.
