Sedum spathulifolium "Purpureum", also called stonecrop, is an evergreen succulent with a ground-covering, carpet-forming habit and fleshy, spatula-shaped, silver-gray leaves of burgundy hue and purplish-black autumn color. Sedum spathulifolium "Purpureum" blooms in June and July with very small, yellow, star-shaped flowers. This stonecrop likes a position in full sun and a very well-drained, slightly acidic, neutral or calcareous, dry soil. This sedum is hardy, drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution, and the plant attracts butterflies and bees.
