Ceanothus hybr. 'Blue Mound'

Ceanothus 'Blue Mound', this American lilac or sickle flower is a medium-sized, broad-growing ceanothus. The shrub blooms with bright blue flowers that contrast beautifully with the dark green leaves. The flowering period is from May to June. This American lilac flowers on last year's wood. It likes a position in full sun or light shade and does well in all soils that are not too nutrient-rich and wet. Growing conditions that are too wet can cause root rot. In severe winters, some leaf fall and freezing can occur. Therefore, especially young plants should be protected in winter. Ceanothus is good sea wind tolerant.
