Miscanthus sacchariflorus

Miscanthus "sacchariflorus", also called beautiful cane, is a hybrid of unknown origin. This beautiful reed has a powerful and bushy upright shape with medium green, slightly drooping leaves with a white center stripe that turn yellow-brown in autumn. Miscanthus "sacchariflorus" blooms from August to November, with silver-gray panicles that turn red in autumn. This beautiful reed likes a sunny position and a well-drained, slightly moist, moderately fertile soil. Miscanthus "sacchariflorus" is hardy and once established, also drought tolerant. It tolerates air pollution and sea wind and is disease and pest free.
