Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola'

Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' is a particularly striking yellow-variegated ornamental grass with crest-like clumps and beautifully pendulous, linear, yellow-colored and green-striped leaves that also show a beautiful red complexion in spring and autumn. This variegated Hakonechloa also thrives in light shade and partial shade and likes moist but well-drained fertile soil. The plant blooms from August to October with unobtrusive golden yellow flower panicles that barely protrude above the leaves. Hakonechloa macra 'Aureola' is very hardy, tolerates moderate drought, is also tolerant to sea wind and air pollution, is hardly affected by diseases or pests and is very suitable as underplanting for trees and shrubs.
