Rudbeckia nitida "herbstsonne", also called coneflower, is a flamboyant, deciduous perennial with a polishing habit and lanceolate to elliptical, serrated, mid-green leaves. This coneflower blooms abundantly from August to October with yellow flowers with a green eye on very tall flower stems. Rudbeckia nitida "herbstsonne" likes a position in full sun or partial shade and does well in any moderately fertile, well-drained soil. The plant is hardy, reasonably drought tolerant, suitable for coastal regions and urban environments, it also attracts many butterflies, bees and other insects.
