Stipa tenuifolia

Stipa tenuifolia, syn. Stipa tenuissima, in Dutch called feather grass, is a particularly elegant ornamental grass with a compact leaf pile and graceful inflorescence. The leaves are narrow linear, medium green and turn straw yellow in autumn. This feather grass blooms from June to August with fluffy, almost silky silver-green flower panicles that turn beige-brown as the seed matures. Stipa tenuifolia prefers a position in full sun and moderately fertile, well-drained soil. Stipa tenuissima is reasonably to hardy, tolerates drought well, is well sea wind and air pollution tolerant.
