Hydrophyllum virginianum is an herbaceous perennial native to Eastern North America.

The flowers are small and bell-shaped, white to lilac.

The long-stemmed lower leaves are deeply divided. The leaves are coarsely serrated, green and usually spotted.

Requires consistently moist, well-drained soil in a light shady spot.

When the plant is happy, it spreads well via root shoots.

Especially suitable for woodland gardens.
