Physocarpus opulif. 'Diabolo'

Physocarpus opulifolius "diabolo" is a medium-sized, deciduous bladderwort. It is a multi-stemmed shrub with an upright and spreading habit, but more compact and refined in shape than the species. The leaves are three-lobed, purple-purple in spring and summer, turning purple-red with a hint of bronze in autumn. This spirea blooms from May to July with white to pink-white, fragrant flowers in umbels that attract bees and butterflies. Physocarpus opulif. "diabolo" likes a position in full sun or partial shade, well-drained, humus-rich soil with a preference for slightly acidic soil. The plant is hardy, sea wind tolerant, air pollution resistant and has few problems with diseases or vermin.
