Hemerocallis 'Sammy Russell'

Hemerocallis 'Sammy Russell' is a deciduous perennial with a sturdy, upright shape and clump-forming habit. This older cultivar (1951) has narrow medium green sword-shaped leaves and blooms profusely from June to early August with medium-sized, brown-red, funnel-shaped flowers with a yellow throat. This hemerocallis likes a position in full sun or partial shade and appreciates a well-drained, fertile soil with a neutral pH. During the flowering season, the faded flowers should be removed daily and yellow leaves may be torn off. Hemerocallis 'sammy russel' is hardy, tolerant to moderate drought.
