Coreopsis verticillata 'moonbeam' or girl's eyes in English is an attractive deciduous perennial with a compact finely branched shape. The leaves are medium green, the lower unlobed, lanceolate and finely pubescent, the upper smaller and compound. This coreopsis blooms from July to September with warm yellow single ray flowers with reddish brown spots around the center. girl's eyes likes a position in full sun to partial shade and a pH neutral, well-permeable, nutrient-rich soil, too wet winter conditions are detrimental. the plant is hardy, reasonably drought tolerant, attracts bees and butterflies, is sea wind and air pollution tolerant but sometimes suffer from crown rot.
