Hydrangea macr. 'King George VII'
Hydrangea macrophylla 'King George VII' is a medium-sized compact. densely branched and profusely flowering bulbous hydrangea. This old variety, an extraction of E. Draps (Belgian) from 1938, blooms beautifully from July to September with light pink to purple-blue flower bulbs depending on the acidity of the soil. The leaves are dark green, ovate and serrated at the margin. This hydrangea likes morning sun and afternoon sun, but cannot stand too bright afternoon sun, which can cause leaf burn on very hot summer days. it prefers a slightly acidic moist soil, is fairly hardy, attracts butterflies and bees. Can also be planted on the coast, sea wind and air pollution tolerant
