Pennisetum alopecuroides "Gelbstiel", in Dutch called lampshiner grass, is a semi-evergreen grass with a round, compact, clump-forming habit. The leaves are narrow linear, matte, gray-green, arcuate and overhanging, in autumn they turn a golden yellow color. Pennisetum alopecuroides "Gelbstiel" blooms from late August to October with pink spikes on golden yellow stems, in autumn the flowers turn golden yellow. This lamp cleaner grass likes a position in full sun or partial shade and a well-permeable, moderately fertile, not too heavy soil. This pennisetum is fairly hardy and drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution well.
