Pennisetum alopecuroides
Pennisetum alopecuroides, in Dutch called lampshiner grass, is a popular deciduous grass with a round, upright, pol-forming habit. The leaves are narrow linear, medium green to dark green, arcuate and overhanging, in autumn they turn a golden yellow color. Pennisetum alopecuroides flowers from August to October with green-yellow, cylindrical flower spikes that turn purple-brown later in autumn. This lamp cleaner grass likes a position in full sun or partial shade and a well-permeable, moderately fertile, not too heavy soil. This pennisetum is reasonably to hardy and drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution well.
