Pennisetum orientale

Pennisetum orientale, in Dutch called lampshiners grass, is a small to medium-sized deciduous grass with a round, upright, pol-forming habit. The leaves are narrow, linear, medium green to dark green, arcuate and overhanging. Pennisetum orientale flowers from July to September with small silver-gray to light purple, hairy, cylindrical flower spikes. This lamp-cleaner grass likes a position in full sun and a well-permeable, moderately fertile, not too heavy soil. This pennisetum is reasonably to hardy and drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution well and has little or no problems with diseases or pests.
