Molinia caer. 'Moorhexe'
Molinia caerulea "Moorhexe", also called pipe straw, is a small, deciduous grass species with very upright, slender flower stems and a compact, bushy, clump-forming habit. The leaves are medium green, linear, grassy and turn orange-brown in fall. This molinia blooms from July to October, with airy, purple-brown flower panicles that turn yellow-brown later in summer and autumn. Molinia arundinacea "moorhexe" prefers a position in full sun or partial shade and is hardy, tolerant to sea wind and air pollution and generally both disease and pest free. This ornamental grass can be used as a solitary in borders, along the pond side in informal gardens, gravel gardens, prairie gardens and as group planting.
