Pennisetum alop. 'Japonicum'
Pennisetum alopecuroides "Japonicum", in Dutch called lampshiners grass, is a medium-sized, deciduous grass species with a vigorous upright pol-forming habit. The leaves are narrow, linear, medium green, arcuate and overhanging. In autumn they turn a golden brown color. Pennisetum alopecuroides "Japonicum" blooms from September to November with brown cylindrical flower spikes that develop a white fuzzy top in autumn. This lamp cleaner grass likes a position in full sun or partial shade and a well-permeable, moderately fertile, not too heavy soil. This pennisetum is reasonably to hardy and drought tolerant, tolerates sea wind and air pollution.
