Dryopteris affinis 'Cristata' syn. D. Affinis 'the king', called shield fern, comb fern or scaly male fern in Dutch, is a large evergreen fern with a broad funnel-shaped habit. This fern has bipinnate, leathery, dark green, closely scaled fronds. This scaly kidney fern likes a sheltered position in partial shade or shade and a well-drained, humus-rich, moist soil.

Brachyglottis 'Sunshine' syn. Senecio 'sunshine' is a small to medium-sized, evergreen shrub with a bushy habit and profuse yellow blooms. The leaves are oval, silver-gray to grey-green colored on the upper side and white felt-like, hairy on the underside. The New Zealand senecio flowers from the end of June to August with beautiful yellow, daisy-like flowers. It likes a sheltered position in full sun or light shade and a well-drained, not too fertile soil. Brachyglottis 'Sunshine' is moderately to moderately hardy, but can suffer some frost damage in severe winters. This plant is also free of diseases, tolerates sea wind, drought, air pollution, attracts numerous bee species and butterflies and can be kept in the garden as well as in a pot.
