Iris pseudacorus
Iris pseudacorus is better known under the name yellow iris, it is a high upright, pol-forming and rhizomatous perennial that you often find on the banks of ponds. The deciduous leaves are elongated, sword-shaped and gray-green colored. Yellow iris blooms in May and June with bright yellow iris-like flowers with brown veins and dark yellow spot on the drooping petals. Iris pseudacorus likes a position in full sun or partial shade and does well in any normal to wet soil. This iris is hardy and tolerates wet growing conditions permanently, in addition, it also tolerates sea breeze and air pollution quite well. On the other hand, it can fall prey to the iris drill caterpillar or suffer from fungal diseases such as leaf spot, rust, fusarium.
