Nepeta faassenii

Nepeta faassenii, also called catnip, is a deciduous perennial, with a wide-spreading, clump-forming habit. The small leaves are aromatic, oval, pointed, serrated and colored gray-green. This catnip blooms from May to September, with violet-blue, tubular flowers in loose whorls. Nepeta faassenii likes a sunny position and a well-drained soil. The plant is very hardy, reasonably drought tolerant and, with some protection, can also be used well in the coastal region and in the urban environment. Nepeta attracts butterflies, bees and other flying insects.
