The attractive medium green to light green leaves are slightly glossy and heart-shaped. This hosta blooms from July to September with large white tubular flowers on upright flower stems. hosta plantaginea prefers a position in partial shade or sun. It prefers fertile, well-drained and moist soil. This hosta is very hardy, tolerant of sea wind, tolerates air pollution reasonably well and is generally disease free. Often used in partial shade borders, shade borders and Japanese gardens.
