Pieris jap. 'Little Heath'
Pieris japonica "Little Heath" is called rock heath in Dutch. It is an evergreen, small dwarf shrub with a bushy, compact shape. Especially the glossy, elongated leaves that first open pinkish white and green variegated in spring and later turn dark green with a creamy white edge are decorative. The small, white, bell-like flowers with pink buds that appear in spring are rather scarce. This pieris jap. "little heath" is hardy, likes a position in full sun or partial shade and prefers a well-drained, moist, acidic soil. It requires little pruning, is low maintenance, attracts butterflies and bees and is also fairly tolerant of sea wind and air pollution.
