Pieris jap. 'Mountain Fire'
Pieris japonica "Mountain Fire" is called rock heath in Dutch. It is an evergreen, medium-sized shrub with an upright shape. The glossy, elongated leaves, which first open copper-red to bronze in spring and later turn green, are especially decorative. In April and May, small, creamy white, fragrant, bell-like flowers in clusters adorn this pieris jap. mountain fire. This plant is fairly hardy, likes a position in full sun or partial shade and prefers a well-drained, moist, acidic soil. It requires little pruning, is low maintenance, attracts butterflies and bees and is also fairly tolerant of sea wind and air pollution.
